Henry Colclazer, 1809
Minister and Founder of Wesleyan Seminary

Colclazer was the most “Southern” of the prime movers for a Wesleyan Seminary. Since he had been born on September 1, 1809 in Alexandria, Virginia, he was Pilcher’s senior by one year – although in his late teens he had been called “the boy preacher of Ohio.” Even Pilcher admitted that when he and Colclazer was appointed to the brand new Ann Arbor District “the people felt that they were supplied with boys indeed.”
