Carty, Emma A., 1912

Emma Carty was born January 26, 1912, and graduated with the Albion High School class of 1930. She lived on a farm southeast of Albion and worked first as a teller at Homestead Savings and Loan and then as secretary/bookkeeper at Sheldon Memorial Hospital and Sheldon Manor. Emma was a member of the First Methodist Church. She made square popcorn balls for her young neighbors and taught them to make hollyhock dolls. Cakes, pies, and cinnamon rolls that she baked were also shared generously with friends and neighbors. Emma died on July 20, 1977.
