Ball, Ruth Lucille Schultz, 1907
    Died February 1970

Ruth Lucille was born in Albion to Reed and Mary Wirth Schultz on April 21, 1907, and lived here her entire life. She married Carlton B. Ball in 1927. They lived in Albion Township and were prominent farmers until Carlton’s death in 1969.

In addition to helping on the farm and raising two sons, Ruth was an active member of the First Methodist Church, the Calhoun County Board of Education, the Calhoun Mental Health Board, the Albion Township Farm Bureau Discussion Group and the South Albion Women’s Club. She also was a leader of 4-H Girls and a former director of the Board of Education for Holmes School.

Ruth also served as president of the State Farm Bureau Women of Michigan at one time.

In 1958 she headed the Women’s State Council Study of public education. In addition to her numerous volunteer duties, Ruth worked as a cashier at the Weatherwax Drug Store for several years.

Ruth died in February of 1970, after a long illness.
