Public Safety Department, 1981
The Albion City Council approved the concept of a Public Safety Department in 1981, which merged the Albion Fire Department and the Albion Police Department into one unit. The plan was implemented after much protest in 1984, as a money-saving measure. Police and fire personnel were thereby cross-trained.
