Victory Park Spring
Albion’s largest park, Victory Park, has a fresh water spring located in thenorth part of the park. The spring is surrounded by a small pool of waterrunning into the river. The actual spring is capped by a cement stoop with watercoming out a steel pipe. A sign placed by the spring contains two panels. Theupper panel says “Historic Site of Victory Park Spring,” the lowerpanel claims “this water unsafe for drinking and domestic use, MichiganDepartment of Public Health.” The irony of the spring, is that much ofAlbion’s history was reliant on industry, but with the departure of industrypeople are left to deal with the unfortunate results, like contaminated springs.
