Adobe House (1840s-1986)
Demolished 1986
Block +
US Census Block # 34-108 (Block 95c)
Historic Preservation Notes +
One of many buildings demolished by Albion College to satisfy the need for future campus expansion. College leaders showed poor judgment demolishing one of the last adobe houses in the State of Michigan. If properly restored this house could have been used to draw attention to the unique history and architecture in Albion. Instead, a lonely plot of grass rests in its place in addition to the two remaining houses on this block.
